Modern Slavery Statement
Maida Vale Removals Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Maida Vale Removals in relation to our financial year and sets out the steps we are taking to identify, prevent and address modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights, and we are committed to continually improving our practices to help combat it.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Maida Vale Removals provides domestic and commercial removals, packing, and associated storage services. In delivering these services, we work with a range of suppliers, including vehicle hire and maintenance providers, packaging manufacturers, storage facilities, temporary labour agencies, and cleaning and waste contractors. We understand that the risk of modern slavery can arise at various points within these supply chains, particularly where there is low-skilled or subcontracted labour.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
We operate a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. This commitment applies to all areas of our business and to all individuals working for us or on our behalf, in any capacity. We expect the same high standards from our suppliers, contractors, and business partners, and we will not knowingly work with any organisation that is involved in or condones such practices.
Policies and Governance
Our approach to modern slavery is supported by internal policies covering ethical conduct, recruitment, whistleblowing, and health and safety. These policies are communicated to employees as part of their induction and are reinforced through ongoing guidance. Responsibility for overseeing the effectiveness of this statement and related practices rests with our senior management, who ensure that modern slavery risks are considered in business planning and decision-making.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are committed to working only with suppliers and contractors who share our values. We seek to include contractual terms that require suppliers to comply with all applicable laws on modern slavery and human trafficking and to maintain fair and safe working conditions. Where proportionate to the level of risk, we may conduct audits or request evidence from suppliers to demonstrate compliance, such as details of their own modern slavery policies, workforce practices, and due diligence procedures.
If any supplier is found to be in breach of our requirements or unable to provide reasonable assurance that they are managing modern slavery risks appropriately, we will take appropriate action. This may include working with them to improve standards within a defined timeframe or, where necessary, reviewing and potentially terminating the business relationship.
Training and Awareness
We recognise that raising awareness among our staff is essential to preventing modern slavery. We aim to provide training appropriate to the roles and responsibilities of employees, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and site operations. Training covers how to recognise potential indicators of modern slavery, how to respond to concerns, and the importance of acting in accordance with our zero-tolerance stance.
Reporting Channels and Escalation
All employees, workers, and contractors are encouraged to report any concerns about possible modern slavery or unethical behaviour within our operations or supply chains. Concerns can be raised directly with line managers or senior management. We will treat all concerns seriously, investigate them promptly and sensitively, and take appropriate action where issues are identified.
We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith. Individuals are encouraged to speak up even if they are unsure whether a situation constitutes modern slavery; it is better to report and allow us to investigate than to remain silent.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that addressing modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility that requires continual review and improvement. Each year we will review this Modern Slavery Statement and our associated practices to assess their effectiveness and to identify opportunities for enhancement. This review will consider any incidents reported, feedback from stakeholders, changes in legislation, and developments in industry best practice.
As part of our annual review, we will evaluate our risk assessment processes, supplier due diligence, training programmes, and reporting mechanisms to ensure they remain robust and proportionate to the nature and scale of our operations. Where necessary, we will update this statement and our internal policies to reflect our evolving approach.
This Modern Slavery Statement has been approved by the management of Maida Vale Removals and will be updated regularly to demonstrate our continuing commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our business.
